COMMITTEE UPDATES

CONSISTORY

On behalf of Consistory, I want to thank all the volunteers who have given of their time, talent, and energy by serving on the various committees.  Your efforts greatly enhance our community and prove we truly are a family.

As we start a new year, we have openings on many of our committees.  One of the challenges presented is not knowing all of the talents/interests of our members and their inclination to share them.

Therefore I am inviting anyone who is interested in serving on a committee to contact Cally in the church office and let her know of your interest.  I can assure you we will enthusiastically welcome your participation.

                                    Donald Walsh, Chairman

THANK YOU NOTE

We thank the following members who came out on Saturday, January 28th to clean out the rooms and closets on the lower level: Connie and Sandy Howe, Jen Mickelson, Jane Malone, Buck and Ann Harvey, Ann and Don Walsh, Pat and Jack Ziegler, Stan and Perla Gish, Ruby Warren, Bonnie Smith and Jane Eiker.

STEWARDSHIP COMMITTEE
This year the Stewardship Committee encouraged giving to Trinity Church on the basis of Proportional Giving, giving a percentage of income to support the mission and ministries of Trinity.  The Consistory, seeking to be faithful to the trust and call you have given them as leaders, have agreed to practice Proportional Giving in 2012.  They have covenanted together to give a percentage of their individual incomes to Trinity.

The Old Testament speaks frequently of the tithe (10%) as an offering to the Lord.  We recognize that in our day, many of the things that were done with the Old Testament tithe are now carried out by other parts of society.  Therefore, we speak of the modern tithe, or 5% as the goal to strive toward if the tithe is seen as unrealistic.  Whatever the amount, the concept is the same: to see our support for the work of our church as a percentage, or proportional share as we have been blessed, that we set apart as a faith response.  Thank you Consistory, for setting this leadership example.

Planned Giving - Considering an adjustment to your finances at year’s end?  Reviewing and up-dating your will?
If you are thinking about either of these things, the Stewardship committee encourages you to consider how you can continue support for your church.  Planned Giving resources are available on the UCC website (ucc.org), or speak with John Fuss or one of the Pastors.  There are a number of ways to give to the church through planned giving, including a gift annuity that provides income in the present and a gift to the church in the future.

A REMINDER TO COMMITTEE MEETING MEMBERS:

If you have an evening meeting now, the doors will be locked.  Please see that a committee member has a key.  When you leave, please remember to turn off all lights (bathrooms too); turn off the A.C. units; and LOCK Tthe door behind you.  Thank you

NEW LOCKS

We now have new locks on all of our doors here at Trinity!  As of last Friday, February 11, 2012,  the old keys are now obsolete.  If you need a working key, please visit the office Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon.  A chart has been made and all keys will be numbered.  If your name is not on the chart, please call or see Don Walsh.  Thanks for your attention to this.

 CHURCH COMMITTEES
The governing body of our church is the congregational membership.  The vote of a majority of members present at any official meeting shall be the action of the church.  The executive body of our church is the Consistory.  It is composed of 6 elders and 6 deacons elected at the annual meeting of the membership.  Consistory members serve for terms of 3 years.  Since the mid-sixties, Trinity has been well organized with the creation of 14 committees; each committee is appointed by, and responsible to the Consistory.  Committee members also serve three-year terms.

ONGOING SMALL GROUPS
We have volunteers from our congregation who share their talents, skills and resources by forming small groups.  With various purposes and  functions from fund raising and outreach projects to performing office work and  enriching spiritual and personal growth, our ongoing small groups are a vital part of our church.

For more information about the functions of each committee and for a list and purposes of our small groups,
